Battle of the Brewers Final Round Focus On The Beer presents the final round of Battle of the Brewers:
We started with eight local breweries, each brewer was given two random ingredients to add to a beer, you did a blind tasting of all the beers and decided which ones were best and which breweries advanced to the next round. We're now at the third and final round, the last two brewers are duking it out on June 23rd. We congratulate Shamrock Brewing and Lone Tree Brewing on getting to this point, your beers have been wonderful thus far, but only one brewer will win in the end. What are the two random ingredients for the beer this time? A bottle of wine per 5 gallons of beer, and the use of wood (but not oak).
Join us on Saturday, June 23rd at 4pm. You will get to decide, in a blind tasting, which beer is best and who will be crowned the 2011 Battle of the Brewers Champion. For $5 you will get a sample of each beer, one vote, a chance to win some door prizes AND a half pint of your choosing from two specialty kegs. It's going to be a good time, We'll see you there!

Beers Made By Walking public Hike
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE WALDO CANYON FIRE!
The BMBW program began last year in Colorado Springs and we wanted to make sure that this year we paid tribute to our beginnings. We have invited eight local homebrewers to come along on two separate hikes and make beers inspired by the edible plants we find along the trails. The hikes this year will be at North Cheyenne Canon Park in Colorado Springs and the Palmer Lake Reservoir trail in Palmer Lake. Each hike is public and will host four brewers, it will be fascinating to see how different each beer is even though it was inspired by the same hike. The eight beers will be brewed communally at Pikes Peak Brewing Co. in Monument in July. The beers will be served at the brewery in September, and again during Monument Beer Week in late October. One of the beers will be selected and re-brewed by PPBC brewer Chris Wright for the larger Colorado Beers Made By Walking series that will take place in Denver in October.
The first hike is June 30th at 10am at North Cheyenne Canon in Colorado Springs. It should last 2-3 hours and should be a moderate difficulty level. There are only 10 spots so make sure to reserve your place.
The second is July 1st at 10am. The hike will be to Palmer Lake Reservoirs. Moderate difficulty of 5+ miles. There are only 10 spots so make sure to reserve your place. bmbw01.eventbrite.com
