Telluride Blues & Brews Festival
The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival takes place in Telluride Town Park, a renowned outdoor music venue with breath-taking mountain peaks for a backdrop. At the heart of our venue is the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage, a small, humble wooden stage that has held the weight of legends over the years. When B.B. King performed here in 2004, he sat on this same stage, looked out at the mountains before him, and told the crowd, "Out of the 90 different countries I've been to, I've never seen anything more beautiful than what you have here." It's not the altitude that'll take your breath away. It's the views.

Ticket prices start at $55 for a 1-day pass, up to a 3-day pass for $170. Tickets sell out, so buy them soon. The festival will offer an amazing lineup of bands and offer beer from over 50 craft breweries from Colorado and around the country.

Vine St. Pub Hosts Brewer's Olympics
The Vine St. Pub & Brewery in Denver will host the 2nd Annual Brewer's Olympics and The Uptown Block Party on Sat., Sept. 15th. Twelve local Colorado breweries have been chosen to compete in the Olympics and pour their beer in the beer garden. Featuring live music from Keith Mosley of String Cheese Incident with Scott Law & Friends.

Participating breweries include: Mountain Sun, Breckenridge, Upslope, Wynkoop, Boulder Beer, Twisted Pine, Avery Brewing, Great Divide, Odell, Oskar Blues and Renegade. Food provided by Vine Street Pub. Festivities start at 1:00 pm-last pour at 9:00 pm. This community event is free to attend (beers cost $5 a pint).

The beers Vine St. will be pouring:
Capital Saison: 8%. A Belgian style saison that is golden in color, with flavors of ripe fruit and pepper spice contributed by the Dupont yeast strain. This beer is balanced by moderate amounts of both American and European hops and has a crisp, dry finish.

Paradise City: 5%. A session-style pale that balances a light crystal malt flavor and English yeast with a spicy, herbal hop character.
HOPS: Hallertau, Tettnanger, Cascade

Vagabond: 7.2%. This American-style IPA utilizes a strategic blend of four American hop varieties which lend strong notes of orange, pineapple and grapefruit, balanced by a moderate malt backbone. It finishes dry with a medium to high bitterness and assertive hop aroma from dry-hopping.

HOPS: Cascade, Amarillo, Simcoe, Chinook
Look for tricycle races, blind-folded grain stacking relay, moving keg obstacle course, and beer transfer competition (no tools or vessels allowed!), as brewers fight for the gold medal. All proceeds from the event benefit New Era Colorado.

Beers Made by Walking Tapping Event
Beers Made By Walking is a program that invites brewers to make beer inspired by nature hikes and urban walks. Each walk is different, each beer is a portrait of that landscape. Join this year's BMBW crew as we introduce eight new beers to the Pikes Peak Region! The beers will be available at Pikes Peak Brewing Co. on Saturday September 22nd, from 3-6pm, and the cost is $10.

This summer we invited eight groups of local homebrewers to join us on a public hike. We walked the Palmer Lake Reservoir Trail, identifying edible and medicinal plants along the way. Each group came up with an exciting and innovative recipe, using ingredients that are non-traditional in contemporary brewing practices. The beers were produced at Pikes Peak Brewing and will be available at the brewery for one day only. $10 will give you entry and unlimited samples of each brew. Here is a list of the brewers and the eight beers that will be available at the event:

Bryan Paradisi and Oren Weil
Professor Plum / Brandy Oak Plum Porter

Carol White and Zenia Brink
Rosie's Wild Hips and Hops / Belgian Pale Ale with Rose Hips, Clover Honey and Wild Hops

John Landreman
Sundance Saison / Saison with Rose Hips and Sumac

Josh Adamski
Maple Ryetious Pale Ale / Maple Rye Pale Ale

Mike Bordick
Palmer Special Ale / Belgian Rye Brown with Maple and Juniper

Mike "Lefty" McGuckian
Dances With Bees / Cream Ale with Sunflower and Wildflower Honey

Scott Simmons
Kreikenstein / Sour Stein Kreik with Chokecherry

Scott Werner
Gose of Summer's Past / German Gose with Bee Balm and Sumac

Both Pikes Peak Brewing and Phantom Canyon Brewing will select a beer that will be re-brewed and sent to Denver for a party at Wynkoop on October 9th for an All-Colorado Beers Made By Walking event. Information about that event will be available soon.
