August 8th, Bristol Brewing holds its 3rd annual “Buses at the Brewery” party. A posse of vintage VW buses will form a “fence” around the back parking lot, where an outside party will feature live music, Bristol beer, and German food from Edelweiss Restaurant.

Zymurgy Institute Course at Bristol Brewery
Colorado State University-Pueblo Continuing Education has teamed with Bristol Brewing Company to offer an 11-month Zymurgy Institute course at the brewery. (Zymurgy being the chemistry field that deals with fermentation.)

The suds studies begin Aug. 10 with the "World History of Beer from 6000 B.C." and continue from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every second and fourth Monday of the month (except December) through June 28, 2010. Topics include Prohibition, microbiology, packaging, marketing, homebrewing and nutrition. Tuition costs either $15 per lecture or $249 for all 20 classes. Enrollment forms are available at the brewery and the CSU extension in the Citadel Mall.

The third annual 2009 Old Chicago Springs Foam Fest
Colorado Springs' only downtown beer festival. Featuring over 25 regional craft breweries, home brew competition, games, and featured food from local restaurants. Pack a blanket, sturdy drinking shoes and chairs and kick back with local musicians and some hand crafted goodness! The event will take place Saturday, August 29th from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the beautiful Antler's Park in downtown Colorado Springs. Attendance is expected to exceed 600 beer drinkers from across Southern Colorado! Foam Fest’s live entertainment line-up includes Andy Clifton & Company and Chute Nine. More “festival style” fun will include Bungee Jumping, Beer Pong, Ring Tossing, a Rock Climbing Wall, Dunk Tank & the crowd pleasing, Corn Holing. Food will be provided by Old Chicago and other area restaurants. New this year will be a Home Brewer Competition that looks to bring several contestants and even more avid beer drinkers. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the The Old Chicago’s Foundation’s Miracle on Tejon Street (an event that feeds over 600 homeless guests on Christmas day at Old Chicago on Tejon Street), and The Friends of Cheyenne Cañon (a conservation and education group dedicated to preserving North Cheyenne Cañon Park).
